::ken&kendra:: (about strep)

Thanks for suggesting strep last night. I went to the Dr. and she confirmed I do have strep.

So now I'm waiting on the dr to call and see if I need to bring in J. His fever was 102.7 last night but it went down with tylenol. It was 102.4 this morning  and tylenol makes it go down but it doesn't keep it down. It keeps coming right back up.  When he has the fever he is mopy and just wants to be held, but after medicine he wants to play.

Do you think he has the same thing? We've been battling a fever off and on since Thursday.

    It definitely could be.  Just before Christmas O had a pretty high fever (101.5-102.5) for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.  I called the pedi a few times, and he said as long as the alternating tylenol/advil every 4 hours kept him somewhat tolerable to see if it passes (his behavior was very similar to what you are describing of J's).  He still wasn't better on Monday, so I brought him into the office and sure enough he had strep and a double ear infection.  Fevers are usually a good indication that the body is trying to fight off something foreign (like an infection).

    Good luck and I hope you are both feeling better soon!

  • ack! So  I go without bumping for 3 days and for the first time get a message directed to me!

    It sounds like it could be strep to me. Hope all are feeling better.
