When I was younger, I bought a vacation timeshare. Since we don't use it because of limited finances, I want to sell it. How do I go about doing that? I'm clueless .
Contact the agency who holds your timeshare. (For us it's RCI, but there are others out there.) We were considering selling and instead chose to rent it out. We own in FL, so we were able to charge enough to cover the maintenance fees and still make a couple hundred. Even if you choose against renting they should be able to give you some ideas on how to go about selling it.

Now we're back to using it regularly.
Please be careful, as there are a lot of timeshare selling scams out there. I work for RCI (and I don't think RCI would help you rent your timeshare, but maybe your home resort would?) and a friend of mine got scammed out of a couple thousand dollars doing one of those sell my timeshare things.
Check out this forum - it looks ugly and old, but it's where a lot of timeshare owners go to talk about everything and I bet you can find some good info in there.

RCI was willing to recommend a couple legit agencies we could rent through. They also told us if we decided to sell they could help us find a legit way to do so.

Ah, sorry, I read your post wrong. I thought you were implying that RCI would help you sell your timeshare. But yes, they can definitely point you in the right direction. Despite the fact that I work here, I unfortunately don't have any advice to give. I'm just corporate communications.
All I'm saying is that RCI will not sell it for you. RCI doesn't even own timeshares. It's vacation exchange. So yes, you can trade weeks and destinations, and upgrade and all that. That is what RCI does.
And that's awesome that they will help you rent or sell, because a lot of timeshare is so shady, and we're always working to clean up the timeshare image. So yeah. Help, yes. Sell it for you, no.
Gravy, did you sell and buy a larger unit, or just upgrade?
We only use our TS to trade in and travel somewhere else. We technically own a studio, so when we trade in we get a studio. (Though usually a 1br, because that's what most of the resorts ew go to have.) In order to get a 2br we have to either 1) find a resort with only 2brs, 2) use up more trading power or 3) pay extra. (In some cases we would have had to use more trading power and pay extra.)
Anyway. My question: we were thinking of selling our studio for a 2br. If that's what you went through I was curious what it was like? We have no idea what to expect cost-wise.

Just don't invite a bunch of people over and give them Outback Steakhouse coupons for sitting through your spiel.
Seriously, though, I don't have anything helpful here. I just wanted to say good luck!
