Babies: 0 - 3 Months

breakthrough on gas

So my DD has terrible gas. 8 weeks old and always straining. We have been giving her mylicon gas drops for weeks and no better. So I was reading about it, and how gas drops work is consolidating the bubbles. So for some babies the bubbles get bigger and if they can't pass them, it hurts more. For two nights, she was up all night in pain, etc.

I switched to gripe water yesterday and rubbed her tummy a lot. She has been farting WAY easier and not screaming when a fart comes. More content, happier. Slept from 7:30-3AM last night with no crying out, etc.

Hmmm. I know gas drops are lifesavers for some babies but if they aren't working, stop, since I was unknowingly making it worse. So weird but makes sense if she can't pass the gas and bubbles get bigger.
