2 Qs re: evening naps and cluster feeding

2 questions. Chime in on either if you have any advice! :)

1. I've read that EBF babies sleep longer stretched if you cluster feed in the evenings. So, if I put LO down at 8pm, I should feed her at 6, 7, and 8. Has anyone tried this?? I feel like DD eats when she's hungry, and I'm not sure I can "force" her to eat if she's not really hungry

2. If you do cluster feed, or even if you don't, when does your LO take their last nap of the evening? I know it's not good to keep them up for longer than 2 hours at this age, so I let LO nap whenever she looks tired, but am I sabotaging her nighttime sleep by letting her nap at 7pm?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Re: 2 Qs re: evening naps and cluster feeding

  • My LO definitely cluster feeds in the evening. She doesn't eat as much during the day and seems to get her food at night. I don't force her to eat, she just gets really fussy every half hour- hour and a half and I just feed her. I don't force it, she just eats on demand.

I try to have her awake by 7 for the night, even if she goes down at 6. She doesn't sleep long at night, which I'm struggling with but I try to put her down for the night between 8-9 and she wakes evey 2-3 hours to eat.

    Good luck!

  • I tried the cluster feeding, at 6, 7 and 8, and it didn't really work. my LO still woke up. But, I have found, by accident, that feeding her at 6:45 and at 8:15 or 8:30 works better. She usually sleeps a minimum of 5 hours, from 9pm - 2 am, if not longer.  I'd say try it out and see what works.
