I have no idea what's going on with my body... I am on my period, I think, but it is the most ridiculous period I've ever had... EVER! It's soooo heavy, and I'm seriously feeling a little nervous that I'm losing too much blood!
Background:
Last normal period: Nov. 17.
December 27 (late, but probably when I should have started a new cycle) I had 2 days of super light, barely there , spotting.
January 16: semi-normal period, but just showed up at a weird time, after the December incident
Saturday 2/4: this ridiculous, super freak of AF started. I've been soaking tampons, and I just went to change it and had the world's biggest clot in the toilet! I'm skerd! What the heck?!
Anyone else have crazy-weirdness like this?
Re: Should I be concerned? (TMI warning)
Never had this issue, but it couldn't hurt to call your OB/GYN nurse before they close today if you are really worried. I just read that soaking a pad/tampon every 1-2 hours is cause for worry...
YES!!
Oct 25th normal 5 day period (late 10 days though)
Then 11 days later Nov 5th got another period. Super heavy and tons of clots and after day 10 with no end in sight I made an appt with my OB. She did a huge blood work up and ultrasound. Nothing was wrong just my body freaking out. Since then I've been like clock work.
I hope everything is ok!
DD: 06-10-15 (32 weeker)
I have definitely had irregular heavy/light periods. I asked my OBGYN and she said if you soak through a 'super' tampon every hour for more than 6 hours in a row, feel light headed when standing from sitting and/or have any clots larger than a ping pong ball (or a few that could add up to that size in a a few hours) to call right away. She also suggested that if I felt there was ANY chance that I was pg, to test right away. (just in case it were to be a mc, she would want to have it in my records...). Other than that, she said just like the weather, there isn't much we can do to control it
I hope it gets better!
You are not alone...I have major period issues!
I had gone 3 months without it back in July-October and then it showed up for 5 weeks! I called my OB/GYN at the 5th week and he gave me meds to stop the bleeding. My period went away and then showed up 3-4 week later, which was a crazy period (I posted about it when it happened)...to make a long story short, I had the worst cramps and then discharged the hugest clot I've ever seen. My doc told me to take a pregnancy test and if it came back negative, it was not a miscarria (It came up negative). Anyway, that period went away a week later and now I just got my last one a few weeks ago and that started it out pretty heavy. I go to the OB/GYN on Saturday. Anyway, back to you...
Like the pp said, if you are soaking a pad/tampon that quickly, that can't be good. I'd get to the Dr's asap. I hope everything is ok!
If this is unusual for you, I'd definitely call the OB. It couldn't hurt to take a test, either, unless you haven't had sex in a long time, even if it doesn't seem like the timing would make sense. The one time I had a wacky period was with my ectopic so better safe than sorry.
I've had pretty much on time periods (except one that was a whole week early!) but they are much much heavier than they ever were and much more painful. They are like the one you are having now. So I guess that's normal for me, but if not for you, it couldn't hurt to check it out. Do you have a pregnancy test still around from way back when? Can you test just to make sure?
Also, I have noticed that my periods are crazy heavy, but the overall period is shorter. See how it is tomorrow...it may lighten up considerably. (unless of course, the bleeding stays scary heavy tonight) Aw, good luck and feel better!
Thanks you guys! I feel encouraged that so many of you have also had wacky AFs like this. I was mostly concerned with having them so close together, and how heavy it's been. I'll wait and see what it's like through tomorrow before calling my OB.
Thanks!
