What shoes does your LO wear?

DS has been walking for about 6 weeks now, and I'm wondering if we need different shoes for him. He current has 3 pairs: mock-Robeez (from Shoezoo on eBay), Pedipeds (their new spring style of the Originals, with the extra gripper bottom--we were selected to be testers), and a pair of hard-bottomed Arizona slip-ons that he HATES. DH asked me if we should be getting more solid-soled shoes for him. I remember soft soles being better to a certain point, but didn't know that with DD. She was in hard-bottom Stride Rite "first walkers" at 10 months.

What sort of shoes do you put on your LO's feet?

  • We've been buying DD's shoes at Payless. We bought a pair of shoes and boots for under $20. They are having a BOGO sale that ends today.

  • Kami doesn't wear shoes much except for when we're out and about (which isn't that often compared to how much we're at home).  But he wears a pair of Converse when we're out.

  • Oh, and I did NOT pay no $32 for them either!
  • Nate had a Target brand of Robeez up until Saturday, when I went to Stride Rite and bought him his first pair of "real" shoes.

  • DS has been walking for 3 months. His first shoes were 2 pairs of Step 2 Stride Rites. He has a pair of Timberland boots, and he has a pair of Nike Shox he just outgrew. He also has a pair of Robeez-like slippers for in the house.

  • Jack wears See Kai Run's 'smaller' brand when we go out.  They are soft soled with little rubber pads.  I love love love them.  I just bought him the next size up in the regular SKRs which have a harder sole on the entire bottom.  He probably won't fit into those for a little while, though.
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • G has been walking for 4 months now so about a month ago we decided to move him up from Stride Rite early walkers to their off and running style.  He also wears See Kai Run's toddler shoes.

Ive heard that the softer and more flexible shoes are the better it is.  I kind of regret moving G to the harder sole shoes, but we did it on the advice of the Stride Rite person.  At least he doesn't wear them too much.

  • She has like 10 pairs of shoes.  She mostly wears her sweakers, I like I can hear where she is running too!

  • I just got a pair of See Kai Runs off of MyHabit for $21.  They're cute and we like them pretty well.  I think Mini Social has them on sale too for a few more days.  We also love, love, love our Pediped Grip N Go.  He wears the Adrian style and also had the same in the Originals.  That's awesome that they are putting grippers on the bottom now b/c that was our only complaint.  BTW, how did you get to test them????  I want C to be a shoe tester for Pediped!  :-)

  • C wears Stride Rite early walkers and Pediped grip n go shoes. They are both flexible soled shoes. He also has hard soled Nikes and Pumas, but he has a hard time walking in them.

  • Griff wears a pair of Jordans when we're out.  They're more hard soled and he does fine in them.  Hes been walking since about a year old, give or take.

They posted on their FB page a few months ago that they were looking for testers and they had a survey to take. I guess I answered right LOL. It was pretty cool. We got free shoes out of the deal but I had to write a review. They gave $200 in shoes to the best reviewer and then they gave a free pair of shoes (plus the ones they reviewed) to 5 runners up. We didn't get chosen but we still got free shoes out of the deal! The new bottoms on the Original are nicer, but DS still slips in them on our tile floors. :(

  • John is still in the pediped originals.  He still isn't walking a ton yet, just a few steps here and there, but when he does, we will be switching to the Grip n Go.  I LOVE his pedipeds!  Such cute styles and good for their feet!
