A co-worker of mine is newly pregnant. Today she was telling us what the baby's name will be, Aidan William or Darla Rae. The girl name is after her grandma.
-Julia, Mom to Liam Russell, Briegan Natalie, & Owen Alexander-
I don't get what is awful either. Sure, Aidan is very popular and Darla is old fashioned, but they are real names that are spelled correctly and given to children of the proper sex. I think Aidan and Darla are about a million times better than Blayden and Makynzee, for example.

I wouldn't go for Aidan due to popularity (there's a reason certain names are popular, because people like them) but Darla ia very cute, not common, and honoring someone.

Me too. Smile and nod.
I don't get it. Why are they funny names? They sound pretty straight forward to me. What am I missing?
ITA. I have seen some terrible names on this board, but to each their own.
Aiden is too popular for my taste. I would have just said that it's in the top 10 of the SSA.
I don't mind Darla either, but it reminds me too much of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and I wasn't a huge fan of that character).
I agree.
