3rd Trimester

Dr. Appt today

I had my glucose + regular visit today. Couple of questions and some fun news:

1. How long did it take for you to find out your results from the glucose test? I thought it would be immediate, but apparently not? or is it just "no news is good news"?
2. How did you feel after your glucose test? I was fine, but another girl had her's done and she literally fell asleep - which one of us is abnormal? lol

Great news from today's appt though - we officially scheudled my RCS with the hospital and everything Big Smile April 27th! We have to be there at 5am and surgery will hopefully start at 7:30am! My doctor started dialing the hopsital from our room and DH said "WOW" - haha. It's REALLY REALLY REALLY REAL!

DH also got the doctor to agree to another ultrasound at my next appointment, we aren't doing a 4D so we were excited. I had low amniotic with DD and she had to come a little early, it's a big concern for DH it will happen again, so even though the doctor isn't concernced he said we will check at the next appointment with the ultrasound.

Re: Dr. Appt today

  • I had my GTT done at a lab and the results were given to my doctor the next day ( I saw her the following business day after that) ...I passed but she said if I had not passed she would have called to have me go in for the 3 hour test and to watch my carb and sugar intake until the test results were in.

I didn't feel weird after the test...but different people have different reactions  maybe the other girl was just tired in the fist place?

  • In regards to your questions,

    1. I had my glucose test on a Friday and they called me with the results the following Monday, so I'm guessing it would have been a 24-hour turnaround if it hadn't been a weekend.

    2. I felt just fine after my test- in fact, I didn't even think the drink was as awful as some people seem to think it is! It just tasted like off-brand Gatorade to me, like the generic stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart if you don't want to shell out the big bucks for real Gatorade, LOL. Maybe your friend is not a sugar fiend like I am and wasn't used to the sweetness? For the record, mine came back just fine and I hope yours does too. : )

I just had a 3rd trimester ultrasound last week, because the little guy was transverse for the previous appointment and they wanted to make sure he was the right size and all since they couldn't tell from measuring me. He was, and for a bonus, he'd flipped to head-down by the time they did the ultrasound! Don't be disappointed if they can't get a really great picture of her this time...it's just really hard once they get so big, which is why they do most of the ultrasounds around the 20-week mark. It's just simply harder to see everything when they're all squished up with their knees around their ears. Good luck!

  • My MW apparently takes the "no news is good news" approach because I never heard anything about the results. I don't handle sugar very well though and actually ended up almost blacking out at the appt. My MW was about to leave the room and I suddenly got cold sweats and knew I was going to pass out if I didn't lay down (because this is what happens to me whenever I have too much sugar) so I ended up having to lay in the exam room with an ice pack on my neck for the rest of the hour, then dizzily made it to get my blood drawn. This is a normal reaction for me though, they said it doesn't happen very often so not trying to scare anyone!
