DH and I like names that are not super common or popular, but are easy to read, say, and spell. Our last name is already a bit of a tounge-twister (starts with a B, three syllables). I have had a girl name in my head for years.....Cora June. However, both sets of parents strongly dislike it, as do a number of friends that we have mentioned it to. Luckily DH loves it.
Other girl ideas have been: Sarah, Afton, Viola, Arden, Lorna, Rory (aurora ?)
For boys, my husband loves Easton. I like it too...but I am not sold on it yet. Again, terrible reaction from family.
Other boy ideas have been: Emerson, Dylan (too popular?), Rowan, Sebastian
Almost all of these names have meaning for us (places we have been, book references, people we love). What do you think?
Re: Thoughts on names?
If you and your husband lova Cora, use the name. Other people get to name their babies, you get to name yours.
Our of your other girl choices, I like Aurora best.
I like Easton, but out of your other choices, Sebastian is my favorite.

Stop letting you family talk you out of names you love. Who is naming/parenting this child?
My favorites from your list are Arden and Rowan.
Unless your having B/G twins, then I love Viola and Sebastian! (I love Shakespeare!)
"A new baby is like the beginning of all things--wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities."
I agree with pps, who cares what your parents think? They already had their turn. Cora's not my favourite of your choices, but it's YOUR child, so you and your DH get to pick the name. If you both love Cora June, use it. When they meet their grandchild, they'll love her so much they won't care about the name.
My favourites from your boy choices are Rowan and Sebastian.
I know it's so hard not to care what your family thinks, especially if you are close knit and actually do respect their opinion!
Out of your short list I like: Viola, Arden and Dylan.
If you and your DH love the name use it! FWIW I think Cora and Easton are nice names
My faves from your list are Aurora and Sebastian
Afton is the only name on either of your lists that I really don't like.
I suggest you stop sharing your name choices with your family. All that really matters is what you and DH think about a name. So, I would stop taking their opinions in to serious consideration. It is your baby, so if you both love a name then use it, and they will grow to love it too.
My sister is pg and due in about 6 weeks. They did share name ideas with us, but I always just encouraged her. If she likes a name enough to share it then it isn't my place to be negative about it.
Cora is awesome, your friends and family suck at baby names. They don't get a say. Use it if you love it.
I also love Viola and Arden. Lovely backups.
I'm not a huge fan of your boy names, but they're fine. Just NMS.
I like Cora, but Cora June is a little short imho. I like it with a longer mn. Of your other choices, I love Sarah! It is so underrated and not very popluar these days! Arden is my second favorite.
I like all of your boy names, but I wouldn't use Emerson because it is so often used on girls. I have a girl and a boy both named Alexis in the same class and the boy gets teased a LOT. My faves are Rowan and Easton.
7 anovulatory cycles, 1 cycle 50 mg clomid, 4 cycles 100mg clomid, HSG double blockage, hysteroscopy with cyst and debris removal, fermara/IUI attempt abandoned because of anovulation, follistim/IUI attempt coming soon!
Stick to the name you love. That said, I've never been a big fan of Cora.
I like Arden and Rory from your girls' list. I have never heard of Afton. I don't know what I think about it yet.
Of your boys' list, Sebastian is the only one I like. The rest I could do without.
DH and I are not telling family/friends our DS2 name just for this very reason. We are going to name our LO that name that we like and fits for our family, I think you should do the same. I think your girl name is nice, sweet, and not over used.
I like you boy name, but I love Emerson
It is probably a good idea to not share names until you have the child because people will come up with reasons to dislike almost anything you love - this is your child!! As long as you and H love it - don't listen to what family and friends say. That's my bit on that, I just wouldn't share except on a place like this board where I can get honest opinions from a variety of strangers (opinions I can take or leave...)
I like Cora and think if you and H love it you should use it. Family and friends will come around to it once the name is on your D
Not a fan of Sarah (plain), Afton (kind of weird to me), Viola (too girly), Arden, or Lorna. Sorry - we disagree with girl names!! I like Rory but more so on a boy. I could see it on a girl though and that would be a top choice after Cora for me.
Not a fan of Easton, sounds kind of pretentious, though I do like it as a guilty pleasure name. Dislike Emerson for the same reason but I love Dylan, Rowan and Sebastian. I favor Sebastian and Dylan for your boy names.
Good luck choosing!!
I like Cora. If you and your DH like it, I say go for it.
As for your other names: I like Sarah and Lorna, Dylan and Sebastian
Also a July 2013 Mom!
Totally agree.
I absolutely *love* Cora June. I think it's adorable, classic, and ages well. Forget what other people think and go with what you love. Of your other names, I like Sarah and Sebastian.
I think you should stop sharing names. Just tell people that you're still thinking about it (even if you're not) and that you'll share after the baby's born.
