He's really only getting a max of 45 minutes/ stretch and he wakes up crying. I've swaddled, I've not swaddled. I've let him fall asleep in the swing, I've tried watching for sleepy signs and comforting him to sleep to put in his crib. I feel like he's overtired and a little fussy during the day the last few days, but he won't really take any good naps. He sleeps pretty well at night, only up 2 times, but the days are getting harder, not easier. Any advice?
Re: How long should my 8 week old be napping?
LO's go through a rough patch at 8 weeks, it will pass in a few days, but good luck in the mean time. If he hasn't been like this leading up to this area, I would say that's what it is. My LO is 10 weeks and around 8 weeks she wasn't napping, or sleeping at night, and a total piss pot during the day. She's now back to her normal self, taking longer naps during the day but still waking 2-3 times at night. Good luck! Hopfully you'll see some changes in a few days
Every kid is so so different. My friends kid took 20 minute cat naps all day and slept through the night pretty early. This is my 2nd. I feel like she is always sleeping- sometimes 3-4 hour stretch during the day 1-4PM and then lots of cat naps - 20-45 minutes or so until she is down at 8:30ish for the night. Wakes once to eat, sometimes grunts other times and that's it, or last night- was fussy every 2 hours.
