Any must haves for a FTM? Sheet savers?

Now that I have had both my showers, I am trying to decide what we still need to purchase for the baby and nursery. Are sheet savers worth it? Anything else that other non first timers would suggest are must haves for a FTM??

Thanks!

  • We got these at our shower, but I'm not exactly sure how they're used!  I assumed they were to help with leaky diapers, but on the package the picture shows them under the baby's head. They're not wide enough to go under the whole baby. Anyone know what they're actually used for, or does it even matter?  I'm actually thinking about using 2 at a time so they catch pee and drool.

  • They go under their top half for drool and spit up.

My sister is obsessed with them. I registered for 4. Her two didn't have as many issues with blow outs as they did with spit up and drool. These saved her from having to wash the crib sheet daily.

We used these as you describe, one under the head and one under the butt. I found them v. helpful, mostly for catching spit-up. Changing crib sheets is a major PITA, especially without a drop-side crib, so these made it much easier.

  • is it safe to use these in crib on top of sheet but under baby? I received a couple on sat at shower that tie to the crib slats and go under babys head (according to picture).

Is there any other kind? Those are the ones we received w/ DS. We were really only using them when he was a newborn and all strapped down in his swaddle. When he started shimmying around I took them out for fear he'd get his head stuck underneath or something [irrational].

  • My sister a 3x mother, told me to get them!.She also recommended getting some of the larger ones ( "multi use pads" ) and these will go under baby's whole body cuz we all know that it comes out of both ends!
