3rd Trimester

Anyone have 3+ c-sections?

hello, I am 33 weeks pregnant with my 3rd, and am scheduled to have my 3rd c-section.  (None were by choice!!)  I had a rough recovery after my 2nd child, and am starting to get nervous about going through it all again.  I asked about a VBAC, but was told it wasn't an option for me, both because of 2 previous c-sections and risk to baby.

Anyone else have 3 c-sections?  was the recovery the 3rd time worse than the first 2?

Thanks!

  • I'll be having my third sometime next month. My second recovery was a breeze--I was only in the hospital for a little over 2 days. I'm hopeful this one will be just as easy. FWIW, I never labored with my first and was only in labor for a very short amount of time with my second (my water broke before my scheduled date).

  • I have had three.  I would say the third one was a little bit easier.  Not a breeze but a little bit easier.  By this time I knew what to expect, was familiar with what kind of pain I was going to have and how to prepare for  everything.
  • I'm having my 3rd in April.  My c/s recovery was about the same both times, first week is a little rough, but the 2nd week is much better.  The 4th day is always the worst for me for some reason.

My OBs would be ok with me trying for a VBAC even though it's contra-indicated (but not dangerous).  But, I've opted not to have one since the chances are good that they would need to intervene and I would have a c/s anyway.  If I went into labor early, I'd for sure give it a shot.

Maybe you can get a 2nd opinion?

  • I will have c-section #3 with this baby.  I am pretty nervous about it too.  Hope you have an easier recovery this go round!

  • I'm going in for my third c/s on the 15th. Recovery was easier for me with the 1st I think, but the 2nd was okay because I knew what was going on and what to to expect. Hopefully this one will be even easier. :-) The second one was a pain because my incision got infected and in the hospital I had awful awful gas pains afterwards; but I'm hoping that those are things that can be avoided this time around. I asked about having a VBAC but since both of my two kids were 9 lbs + the Dr said that the hospital would probably not allow me to try a VBAC. I honestly was a little bit relieved. :-)

  • This will be my 3rd c/s, scheduled for March 9.  I am also nervous about it.  Recovery with both my previous ones was fine, I actually only stayed in the hospital with DD#2 for 2 nights but I find the emotional stress to be the hardest for me because I'm still very disappointed that I'll never get to experience a vaginal birth.  Being on the OR table freaks me out.  But as long has he arrives healthy, all will have worked out!
