Any tricks for when your LO is fighting sleep?

I don't know if my LO just wanted to watch the Super Bowl or what but yesterday he would not sleep for nothing and was just fussy. He's been like this on occasion at other times as well but it was really noticeable yesterday. His diaper was clean, he was fed 7oz of formula and he just would not fall asleep for nothing and if he did fall asleep he would only sleep for about 20-30 minutes.

He just turned 4 months on Friday and I am wondering if he is going through a possible growth spurt and maybe his body is aching or something? I am not sure but normally when he is tired, it takes him no time to fall asleep.

He is now biting on his Pacifier too which makes me think he might be starting to teethe? I am not sure about that either.

The usual stuff like putting him in his swing, bouncy seat, lay him down on a super soft blanket normally work for him and he falls right a sleep for hours just wasn't working yesterday for whatever reason! LOL!

Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • When DS does this I realize that if I take him to his room where it is quiet and there is not all that stimulation (people around, tv on, etc...) and I just rock him with his pacifier in he will fall asleep within minutes.  Hope that helps.

  • DD was like that yesterday too during the Super Bowl. I ended up taking her into the guest bedroom at our friends house and laying down in the bed with her. 5 minutes later she was sound asleep.

  • LO is a bit younger, but she already gets fussy when she is super tired. What works for her is one of 3 things. sometime as soon as i lay her in her bed and pop her pacifier in she falls right asleep.  Usually i stick her on to nurse, or just do skin to skin. but mostly she gets over stimulated easily when she is sleepy and is frustrated because of the noise and all thats going on. she is super nosey, so 9 times out of 10 she just needs to be taken to a quiet dark room and just calm down.
