The just built a brand new, clean Chuck E Cheese in an affluent area 20 minutes away. My MIL takes my son once a month for lunch and play and said it would be great for party? But then other friends say 2 years old is too young for party there? Thought??? I have never been....
Re: Chuck E Cheese party for second birthday- too young?
My DS 2nd party was at an indoor play place and he loved it and so did all the guests. Most kids were his age but some were older and it was perfect for everyone. If your son likes Chuck E Cheese you should have it there!
It depends. If you are going to do it on a weekday, it might be okay, but on a weekend, I'm sure it will be jam packed with big kids and even though there is a section of baby rides, keeping a bunch of toddlers contained to just that section is tough in such a big place. Then the parents will spend most of the time chasing them around. Also, I personally find Chuck E. Cheese to have one of the most unhealthy menus of any kid's party place I've been to. Everything is extremely greasy and deep fried.
I think moms tend to go overboard with parties. I'm guilty of doing it with SD5 in the past. I guarantee your son will have just as much fun at a house get together with games and such. Way less headache, and money. I think Chuck E Cheese is really exploiting parents who will drop a few c-notes (LOL) because they want to give their kids everything or they're excited first time parents.
I plan on keeping LO away from Chuck's as long as possible so she wont know what she's missing.
I plan to do a deposit into LO's bank account for her birthday instead.
I think it's a little young, and agree with the PP about parents will just be chasing their toddlers around the entire time. I think it would be better for like a 5 year old's party.
Something like Gymboree would definitely work better.
We did Snuggle's 2nd B-day there. The one near us has a separate Toddler Zone and Snuggle loves it!
We did not do an "offical" party. In order to do that, you need to have a minimum amount of kids. We just had everyone show up. It was a really good time.
I went with DH and DD to Chuck E Cheese like two weeks ago and it was HORRIBLE. It was a Saturday afternoon and there were kids wildly running around. I am surprised that LO didn't get trampled. You are in a city, so I could see it being crazy. It might be something fun he goes to during the week, but trust me, the weekends are HELL!!! We came out with a headache and just ended up chasing DD around and eating really crappy food like this poster said. One of the other posters mentioned Gymboree. That is probably a better idea.
