Hey ladies with PCOS,
Anyone heard of this HCG diet plan?
It's a diet plan with supplements which include dropping some form of the HCG hormone (yes the pregnancy hormone) under you tongue.
My sister sees a doctor that suggested it to her. She went to a seminar, and the doctor told a lady in the audience who's daughter had PCOS and is trying to get pregnant..."If your daughter does this she WILL get pregnant" -
It's not ONLY for women with PCOS or anything like that, but it's supposed to be a 'miracle' type thing. I dont know. I Just wanted to see if anyone has heard of it???
Re: Hcg Diet & PCOS????
500 calorie diet and that price? No thanks
I'd like to see the evidence to back up the claim "You WILL get pregnant."
Right?! that's what I was thinking.
It just seems ....hokey. I don't know.
PLUS a big part of the diet is not eating any refined sugar/flour..things of that nature. and yes of COURSE that is good for people with insulin resistance.
Seems strange. My sister bought the $138 kit... she's got 2 kids and is NOT having anymore, she's only doing it for the the 'healthy' and losing weight part of it.
I think that is only for the detox part of it.
But yea. and what diet that promises to lose a pound a day, do you actually keep off.
I'm more interested in this HCG hormone and if anyone has heard of anyone taking that before?
After almost 3 years of IF and a crazy roadside delivery, we are loving life with our second beautiful daughter!
Anyone only eating only 500 calories a day would lose weight...
I had a student on this diet last year. She ended up getting severe headaches and mood swings. The "doctor" that she was seeing that put her on the diet was a chiropractor.
Now that you said that, I bet my sister's "doctor" was a chiro as well. .....

The HCG diet is just a fad. There is nothing safe about restricting yourself to a 500 calorie a day diet. The weight loss is from starvation and once you start eating again, the weight will come back. Oh, and the FDA states HCG diet products are illegal.

I there is a medspa in our town that specializes in HCG injections. Before we decided to TTC i was going to attend a consult. However, I dont want ANYTHING to hinder this process. So no crazy diet until after we have a healthy baby and i'm done BF'ing.

The HCG diet is essentially renamed anorexia. Anyone's going to lose weight on 500 calories a day. You also can royally screw up your metabolism.
Best thing to do is get moving and eat a well-balanced, healthy diet. You may not see drastic results right away, but it is the real way to lose weight and learn habits that will keep it off. I get so sick of these gimic diets. Get off your (collective your) a$$ and sweat a little!

You can obviously tell I didnt look into it too much before I posted on here. I figured you ladies would know your stuff. I appreciate all the input.
I agree with you guys about the calorie part of it.
I was interested about the HCG part of it- crazy that you can buy it at target..... and the whole hormone free thing is crazy, becaUse you are right, it IS a hormone!
CRAZY!
Thanks ladies!
Diets like this are just that - a diet. It is better to try to make lasting changes that you can live with for the rest of your life.
You might benefit from getting the Insulin Resistance Diet book. It is about linking and balancing carbs and protein to reduce cravings and keep your blood sugar steady. It does have 'diet' in the name but it is something that is maintainable once you get used to it.
