Babies: 0 - 3 Months

feeding baby

My Lo is 9 weeks old. Baby has grown nicely. I feed her using a mix of Breastfeeding, Bottle feeding and using formula (similac advance) and pumped milk. Anyone else do this? Just curious.

  • That's exactly what I did up until last week. He would take over an hour to nurse, so I pumped and bottle fed at night and nurse during the day. I wasn't able to pump enough for him even though I pumped every 2 hours, so he got 2 bottles of formula a day. Now that he's stronger he only nurses 30-45 min so I've switched to nursing around the clock (still have to give one bottle of formula to top him off at night). It is so much easier!I hate pumping!

  • This is exactly what we do. Breastfeeding has been really difficult for me (painful due to tongue tie which has since been fixed and he's a slow nurser-- usually nurses a half hour+ on each side) so sometimes I just need to give my boobs a break so I pump...However usually when I pump I don't produce enough (he drinks 3.5-4oz) so I usually mix 1oz or 1.5oz with the pumped milk. Sometimes he just gets a formula bottle too... it really just depends. I would say he's getting 75-80% BM in one way or another - sometimes more - each day. It works really well for us and for him and he goes between breast and bottle no problem.
