Question for baby food makers?

I started making baby food for DS about a month ago. We're looking to try some new recipes I was wondering what worked for other people. I wanted to try and apple and pumpking puree today. I already use wholesomebabyfood.com a lot but was looking for some other ideas. Also how do you steam your fruits and veggies. I've been baking a lot of fruits because we don't have a steam basket (I know, I need to get one) but I heard you can steam them in the microwave also.

  • I have a steamer basket that I use for most things. I have also stewed a few things like apples/blueberries and chicken/apple/sweet potato.

  • I steam my food in the microwave by putting a little water in a bowl. Put fruit/veggie in and cover with plastic wrap with one corner open to vent. I usually cook it for like 6-7 minutes and they come out perfect.

  • I use a baby brezza that both steams and purees. One of the best baby things I got as a gift! I steam most things, but bake sweet potatoes and squash. For avocado and bananas I just mashed up. I haven't mixed any foods yet, as I am still trying to get DD to eat anything at all. I would try going to your local library and checking out a book on baby food recipes. I saw a few the last time I went.

    As for combinations- I made almost all single ingredients and then combined when I was ready to serve (1 cube of each).  That way I can make lots of different combinations.  Exceptions were ones that had bananas.  I didn't like the brown color of bananas so I would make it with strawberries, blueberries, etc and then freeze.  Or if I had small amounts of something I might mix them together.
