I started making baby food for DS about a month ago. We're looking to try some new recipes I was wondering what worked for other people. I wanted to try and apple and pumpking puree today. I already use wholesomebabyfood.com a lot but was looking for some other ideas. Also how do you steam your fruits and veggies. I've been baking a lot of fruits because we don't have a steam basket (I know, I need to get one) but I heard you can steam them in the microwave also.
Re: Question for baby food makers?
I steam, bake or poach.
As for combinations- I made almost all single ingredients and then combined when I was ready to serve (1 cube of each). That way I can make lots of different combinations. Exceptions were ones that had bananas. I didn't like the brown color of bananas so I would make it with strawberries, blueberries, etc and then freeze. Or if I had small amounts of something I might mix them together.
We love our Baby Brezza! It steamsand blend fruits, vegetables, meats and fish all in one bowl. It's very quick (about 15 minutes) and easy to clean (dishwasher-safe). We steam our fruits and veggies in the Baby Brezza. The Brezza has an optional steam basket for $9.99.
We like to try just about any recipe with avacado, papaya, pumpkin and quinoa. It's simple ingredients are easy on the digestive system. By the way, Baby Brezza is coming out with a cookbook with recipes for making your own baby food. So, that should help as well.
