IVF Cycle after Miscarriage and D&C

I conceived twins with IVF (frozen transfer), but tragically I miscarried last week at 10 weeks.  I had to have 2 D&Cs (there were retained products after the first one).  I am starting to think about whether to try another cycle of IVF again and wanted to see if anyone else was in the same situation.  How long after your miscarriage and D&C did you have to wait to try IVF again?

We did not get pregnant from IVF but I had a D&C back in December and my doctor wanted to see me get one period and then I started BCP for IVF#1. I don't know if it would be different because you, unfortunately, had to have 2 D&Cs. I know they want to give plenty of time to let the lining build back up.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My RE detected a missed m/c at 8w3d and I had scheduled a D&C, but m/c naturally at 8w5d back in November.  He wanted me to have one natural cycle, to make sure my body was "restarting" and after that happened he had me do a saline sonogram to make sure there was no scar tissue before I could procede with my FET.  He had told me if we had done a D&C he would have asked me to give my body an additional cycle "break"

My FET protocol is a six week protocol, so when all is said and done I'll being doing my FET 3 1/2 months post-m/c.

Hi. I'm really sorry for your loss and for having to go through two D&C's. I had a D&C in November of last year. Unfortunately, I had to have an operative hysteroscopy to remove strictures from the D&C in January. I will probably do a FET in May/June. So that will be 6-7 months past my D&C. The decision was based more on other issues (new job, finances, etc.) other than my doctor's ok.

I'm assuming that your doctor will want to do a hysteroscopy prior to allowing you to cycle again. I was told that I could do the hysteroscopy at a minimum of 6 weeks post D&C. I'm assuming if all is good in the uterus that you'd be able to start cycling after that. Hopefully you can get some answers from your doctor on this.

Hang in there. It took me a couple of months after the D&C just to heal emotionally. It's such a devastating thing to go through, but to add it to IF, it's just so painful.

I am not in the exact same situation, but I wanted to say that I'm so sorry.  I miscarried naturally last week after my first ever positive pregnancy test from an IVF frozen transfer. We had previously  been through 3 IVFs and this was our fourth cycle, but it was a frozen cycle.  I was also wondering how long to wait after all of this.  My doctor said we should take some time to process it all but that at a minimum we should wait one cycle.

I am so sorry for your loss!  My situation was a little different.  Our loss was a few days shy of 20 wks & I had a D&E.  Initially I was told I had to sit out 2-3 cycles for my body to heal.  At my 2 wk post op. appt. I was cleared after 2 cycles.

I'm sorry for your losses and having to have 2 D&Cs. Life can be so unfair.

I had D&C at 8.5 weeks for an IVF pregnancy a couple of weeks ago. We had the WTF last week and the RE said to wait for 1 natural cycle. (The short wait may be influenced by my age and if you are younger, it may be ideal to wait longer.)

I am so sorry for your loss.  I know how painful it is.  I took 4 months off to ensure I had healed physically and emotionally before starting my next cycle.  My RE said that I needed a minimum of two full bleeds before he would consider cycling me.  It just turned out that I wasn't as eager as he was.
