I was doing it openly in front of A. Until the one day I said sh*t. DD likes to mock what we say, and while it came out, It! she kept saying it! So now we watch what we say.
i don't swear on a normal basis. i think the worst i say is "damn it." that i try not to do around dd but it still happens, especially if i drop something/break something, etc.
We started a swear jar when DS1 was starting to talk. It's $5 per word. Anything less and DH wouldn't take it seriously. At some point we'll add the money to the kids' college funds. Our tally for the past 2 years is DH owes $180, I'm around $75. It's still ok to swear when the kids are not around, but we do it a lot less in general now.
