For the MoMs

My DH heard a theory and requested that I make a poll.

Re: For the MoMs

  • Too early to tell on my kids yet, but my SILs are ID and one is a lefty.

Did you hear about this idea that lefties were twins themselves? I told my mom it's possible that I had a vanished twin since I'm a lefty (assuming this hypothesis is accurate).

  • There is a theory that left handed people were (or are) mirror twins... if a singleton, that there was a mirror twin that was lost early and never even known about...

it's just a theory... but is out there in the medical community.

most people on this board have younger multiples - so don't really know yet if they are left/right handed or not.  Mine are 2.5 and probably both right handed... but they aren't even identical- so the whole mirror twin thing wouldn't matter anyway :)

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • It's too early to tell for sure but they both seem to favor their right hands.
DH and I are both righties but my dad and brother are lefties.

I think I've heard the theory being referred to. Is it about mirror twins? I thought it only applied to IDs.

  • DD is definitely a righty, DS mainly uses his left for eating, coloring, etc., but occasionally uses his right. So I voted one of each, guess we will see for sure as they start learning how to write! ETA: Of course my results wouldn't matter if the mirror thing is what your DH is looking for poll results for :-)

  • my boys are too young to know for sure, but I have been wondering about what they will be.  I have noticed that when they eat they prefer the left hand, but I think that may be due to me handing them hte spoon with my right hand? Or placing the spoon on their tray with my left hand, thus they pick it up with their left....I'm trying to "switch it up" but ...really, don't want everything on the spoon to fall onto the tray. lol.  I need to pay attention to which hand they use most during other times of the day.. hmmm....
God gave me a double portion for my inheritance with my little Mighty men :) 9/19/10 Baby A born at 1:47 am 6lbs 14oz, 20.5inches long. Baby B born at 3:20 am 6lbs 6oz, 19.5inches long. My double blessing!:)

  • My boys are still really young but we have noticed that DS2 uses his left hand to eat and throw his balls.

They thought my Mom was a twin (she is left handed). My grandmother had a complication very early on in her pregnancy and went to the Dr. He told her that she miscarried (way back before ultrasounds)...surprise surprise when my Grandmother was still pregnant a few months later. The Dr stated that my Grandmother could have lost a twin???? I don't really know how accurate this story is.

It would be interesting if this was somewhat true.
