Fisher Price Rock & Play anyone?

How is it working out for you? Does LO nap or sleep in it? DS has been grunting up a storm since he got home and I've read reviews that the Rock & Play helps with reflux etc. Anyone with experience, your comments are much appreciated!

Re: Fisher Price Rock & Play anyone?

  • My DS sleeps and naps in it. We love it. It has definitely been a life saver. We originally put him in his crib but that didn't work out. He sleeps great in the rock 'n play. I keep it by the bed and then during the day I drag it out into our living room and put him in there for naps (when he's not napping in my arms of course Smile haha)

  • We loooove our Rock and Play. But get the original and not one like this. Too much soft stuff near the face for my liking especially if they are in there all night.

Exactly! It is god's gift to the new mother!

  • My DD has severe reflux and she sleeps in her RNP at night.  Before we had it, she would not sleep at all unless we were holding her.  During the day, she naps on her tummy.

  • My DS loves it also and it's the only thing he will sleep good in at night.  It has truly been a god send!

  • I think you will find that everyone here loves the RnP! I didn't know about it until DD was a little older so I didn't have one. The only problems I have heard about are trouble transitioning to crib and flat head.

I'm a mother who did NOT have a RNP.  I don't know what I'm missing... but it seems like it makes it really hard to get your LO to sleep "normally" (flat on their back) later on.  DS slept in the pack n play next to our bed for his first 2 months and then we moved him to his crib with zero drama.  I'm kind of glad I never joined the RNP fan club.

I think the RNP is like anything and should not be used exclusively or the problems mentioned will arise.  My LO sleeps in one next to the bed at nightand naps in various different places and posistions during the day.  If you do anything 100% of the time, you may run into a problem when it comes time for change.

  • I hesistated to get it b/c I know LO are supposed to be flat and sleep in hard surface...but then DS2 hda colic- horrible gas and eating problems that woke him up every 45 mins. Bought it and now he sleeps for liek 2 hours spurts which is a fantastic improvement! Very happy with the RNP!

  • We have a RnP and haven't had any issue transitioning to the crib or getting him to sleep on a flat surface. We wanted to get him read for daycare, so at about 6 weeks we had him in the crib at night and the RnP during the day (vs. RnP at night and PnP during the day like we had been doing). As long as he was swaddled, he slept just as well. He's been in the RnP this past week at night because he's been congested and we wanted things to drain, but other than that he's in the crib.
