Can we talk sleep regression?

Where did my wonderful, amazing, sleeping girl go? BabyT*T used to be a solid 7:15pm to 7:15am sleeper.  It was glorious! Then daycare changed and K returned so things shifted a little.  But still, she slept from 8:30/9pm to 7:15am.

For the past week or so she just.won't.sleep.  I can see her two year molars under the skin but my gut says this isn't the molars (yet).  She's taking forever to go to sleep.  Or like last night, she went to sleep fine but then woke screaming at 2am and refused to go back down.

The past two nights I've ended up just bringing her to bed with K and I because I was literally too exhausted to sit with her in a rocking chair.

Please tell me this is growth spurt of some sorts? Does anyone think it's time for her to move into a big kids bed? Is she just hating the confinement of the crib?  I need sleep....or more coffee...preferably both. ;-)

Re: Can we talk sleep regression?

  • My guess is teething. My kids' molars took FOREVER to come in and we had to nightly dose with Motrin (cleared by the peds.)

It also just might be a sleep regression. Around that age, Gray started refusing to go to sleep at night. He would scream and sceam and L would cuddle with him on the guest bed till he fell asleep. We finally did a short term CIO/sleep lady shuffle around 2y. But for 2am wake ups (which he never stopped from infancy), we did the same thing as you...which ended up with a kid crawling into our bed until 3.5y.

Good luck. Hope it gets better soon!

  • How long is she napping?

We went through something similar (the taking forever to fall asleep part) and shortening/dropping the nap helped a ton.

Maybe.  But I've been drugging her and that hasn't helped. Stick out tongue I just think this is different. Idk.

On the weekends - almost not at all.  Or maybe 45 minutes in the car.  Last weekend I think I got an hour out of her on Sunday.

At daycare - between 45mins to 2hrs.  It used to be about 1.5 hours solid.  But with the restless nights her naps seems to have been shorter too.  I think yesterday was 45mins.

Well, if you are drugging her with no good results, then I agree. ;)
