Trying to Get Pregnant

Would you still be holding out hope?

I finally broke down and went to the dr yesterday for this headcold - turns out I have a sinus infection.  Anyway, I took a pregnancy test at the office.  4 o'clock in the afternoon pee (not FMU), 9 DPO.  It came up negative.  Went home and had a pitty party, of course.  Took my temp today, and it's still up.

Would you still be holding out hope that maybe this weekend a pregnancy test will turn up positive?  Or would you take that negative as a sign and say f it?

TIA ladies.  I know, I know, no way to know if I am pregnant without a test.  But, I kinda feel like I'd only be wasting them with yesterday's negative.  Trying very hard to make it til Sunday (13 DPO) before I POAS again.

Re: Would you still be holding out hope?

  • Well according to FF, 19% of pregnancy charts report having a negative test taken before a positive test.  So sure.  Good luck.

  • Sorry you are feeling bad.  Now I'm not sure how their test compares to the HPTs at home, but I'm wanting to say it was too early.  Looking at the percentages, 10 DPO only get 35% positive, so you had a test done before the min. of what most probably would begin testing at.  If implantation normally can occur from 7-10 days and high your temps are staying up, I'd give it a few more days. Anxious to see what other people say.  GL!  I'd test if temps stay up in a few days.

  • 9 DPO would be very ealry to get a positive anyway.  Implantation doesn't occur until 7-10 DPO.  If you don't want to waste a test wait until at least 14 DPO to take another.

ETA:  I never answered the question, yes I would still hold out a little hope.

  • Thanks you ladies!!  We "pulled the goalie" in August, and I am so friggen sick of negative tests, I could just ARF!  This is the first month of temping for me, and I was just so hopeful based on my chart.  Yesterday was a huge blow to my confidence level.  Huge!!

I'll step away from the tests, and wait a few days, and try again.

Thanks for giving me some encouragement!  I appreciate it!

This. How long is your luteal phase usually? I'd (try to) wait a couple of days and then test again if your temps are still up and AF hasn't shown.

This is my first month of temping, so, no clue.  It's actually been very educational to temp.  I just hope it all pays off!
