Bobbi got sent home!

She is in labor but the contractions are not consistent and there has been no change in her cervix in the 3 hours she was there.

She's tired and very uncomfortable and very disappointed.

What I dont understand is why wouldnt they start the pitocin to get her in a good labor pattern especially they were planning on inducing her on Friday.  Of course she had an on-call OB from a different office since hers is off today.  We all feel they kinda blew her off and pushed her out the door.

Blech!

  • I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant with Christopher.  Pitocin is risky though - I can totally see why they'd want to give her an extra day and see if she can do it by herself.  Best of luck to her.

  • Yeah, it's definetly safer to let her body attempt to do it on its' own.  I know it's sucky for her and I'm sure she's exhausted and ready to meet her little girl.  But after working in L&D as a RN, I'd definetly give my body every chance I could to do it on its own as opposed to taking the Pit just because I was already at the hospital.

If her cervix isn't changing on its' own in 3 hours there's a possibility the Pit wouldn't help that happen either!

You'll be a grandma before you know it though!  Good luck to her!

  • Go buy her some evening primrose oil and have her apply it to her cervix. Seriously.
  • That happened to me, and 24 hours later my water broke and DD was born 12 hours after my water broke!
