Trying to Get Pregnant

Formal Intro & PCOS Question

I've been around here and doing a little posting for a couple weeks now and wanted to formally introduce myself, as well as ask a question about my cysts. The boards have been tremendously helpful and I have learned SO much and really want to thank everyone for all of this knowledge! I wouldn't have been temping or asking my doctor what type of monitoring on Clomid he does if it weren't for you!!

Growin up, my cycles were very irregular and then I spent many years on BCPs. About 14 months ago, I went off the pill to evaluate my cycles. Over the next year, my periods (which now I assume were annovulatory "periods") varied from 35-92 days. Then in 11/11, DH and I started TTC using only OPKs. In 12/11, I started having severe ovarian pain and OBGYN found several cysts on both sides and wanted to monitor them again in a month. The pain continued and in 1/12 the cysts had grown and multiplied, which convinced me that I probably was never ovulating at all. My CD3 b/w came back normal, except for slightly low estrogen. I was put on Metformin and started temping and checking CM and in the first month, my CM, temperature, and OPK all matched up (see chart below) and it looks like I actually ovulated, so I think the Metformin is working. Problem is, I've got one kidney and my nephrologist doesn't want me on Metformin for very long, which means that I need to get pregnant fast....no pressure or anything. So my OBGYN is considering starting me on Clomid sooner than planned, and if I start, they will monitor me with b/w and u/s. Tomorrow I am going in to decide about the Clomid and hear the results from DH's SA.

My ovarian pain seemed to go away for a few weeks when I started the Metformin, but now it's back again. Is there any way that you know of to reduce this pain...might I need surger? Is it even a good idea for me to conceive while I have these cysts? And if I *may* have ovulated on my own in January, do I even need Clomid or is this happening as a routine next step for PCOS?

Thank you again for all of your help....I assume I'll be around here for a while!
