My Blog
it all depends on what tests they run. There really is no general cost. My ob/gyn has no such thing as a preconception blood work or appointment.
Do you know what they tested you for?
I have to pay OOP for my cystic fibrosis one. I decided not to do that one, it was really expensive, and i don't think it would change my mind about TTC anyway.
Wow, thnk goodness for insurance!
Well let's all hope really hard that neither you or your husband is a CF carrier then.
Born via emergency c-section - 8lb, 19.75 in, 100% stubborn BFP Chart
8 cycles of unmedicated trying = BFP!! - EDD 1/10/18

I'm sorry, but this comment is just rubbing me wrong way. One of my dearest friends had CF and this comment feels like you are suggesting CF carriers shouldn't have kids. Even if blp0018 did test positive, her husband would also have to be a carrier and even then, there's only a 25% chance of having a child with CF.
April 2013: Femara + Trigger + IUI = ???
You had blood work done and don't know what was tested?
I had Fragile X testing and a Chromosone Analysis done back in Dec. My bill was more than that. Thankfully it was all covered.
I asked when the nurse called with the results, but she only told me routine blood work. ( CBC, Vitamin D, CF etc). It seems like a lot more was run! Next time I will ask for sure.
The genetic testing for CF shouldn't cost over $1200. I will be having an entire panel of genetic testing done (H is adopted and of Middle Eastern descent, so we chose to do so), and the whole panel, which tests for 16 genetic diseases using a saliva test, is $350 OOP. It includes cystic fibrosis. Hmmmm...I wonder which test it was that was so expensive? Now I am curious

I was not even close to suggesting this. Something like 1 in 29 caucasians are carriers. I can't imagine not getting tested with stats like that.
Knowledge is power yo.
Testing is certainly not mandatory, but it sure seems prudent IMO.
This. It can also vary regionally depending on which health care providers the health plan is contracting with. Some of the larger ones are more expensive.
