Trying to Get Pregnant

New and new to charting :)

Hello!  I've been lurking and a few posts here and there, but i'm 'all in' now and wanted to introduce myself! :)  You ladies have been very helpful with previous questions, so I have just one more.  This is my second month charting, 5 cycle TTC, and have a question about my temping.  One day a week, i wake up 2 hours earlier than normal to go run w/ a friend, and noticed that ff is putting an open circle on that day.  Is it going to mess up my chart with an open circle once a week each week?  I'd rather not wake up at 430 every day and then go back to bed if just one day a week I really need to be up then :/  So my question is, is that day going to mess up my chart?  I'm on CD 14 and hoping to O soon, so i'm just curious!  Thanks!! :)

  • You should still be able to see a pattern, it will just be clearer if you're always at the same time.

I actually temp at my earliest wake-up time. My thermometer is by the bed with my phone (alarm). Alarm goes off, thermometer goes in. When it beeps I just toss it back on the nightstand and go back to sleep. I don't even really open my eyes. When I actually get up for the day, I turn it on again and record the temp on the FF app. It's a clearer pattern, I still get my sleep, all is right with the world.

Try doing that for a few weeks. It's a good way to get an easy to read chart and all the sleep you need.

  • I'm also new to charting, and I have a similar question, so I'm curious to know the answer from other people... normally I wake up at 6:15 to get ready for work, but sometimes, if I can't sleep, I wake up around 4:30 or 5.  From what I understand, it's best to take your temperature consistently throughout the week, but I don't think one day a week is going to mess up your chart on FF as it looks for the overall trend.  One open circle shouldn't affect the overall trend.  And if you notice that your temp on that one day each week when you wake up early is much lower, you could always just discard it.

I agree. I wake up at 4:30AM and it's such a pain to temp on the weekends. I used to just temp when I woke up (2 hours later), but ended up having false 'triphasic' charts during my 2ww, so I went back to temping at my normal time.

I keep a flashlight by my bed so I don't wake dh, and take my temp and then read it when I wake up. It's not too bad, and my chart is more accurate now.
