December 2010 Moms

Wahhh!

E had been going to sleep so easy for the past 2 months. Nurse him, lay him down still awake and he he'd go right to sleep. Well for the last week he's been driving me insane by chatting away or whining in his crib for over a hour each night. WTF baby SLEEP so I can.

Please tell me I'm not alone, and E isn't the only one being stubborn when it comes to going to sleep.

Re: Wahhh!

  • Well, G has being really good about this lately, but I'm sure his time will come.  I'm sorry and I'm sure E will turn things around soon.

  • Oh yeah!  The best thing to do is to stay consistant and he'll give up eventually and go to sleep.  C's been fighting naps a little bit lately too and I just lay her down and say "time to take a nap!" and walk out...even if she's wide awake.  They need to know that because they're not acting tired doesn't mean they don't need sleep :)  And besides...parents need to sleep too damn it! hehe!

  • B's been doing this pretty frequently over the past week or so.  Last night it was 40 minutes of chattering before he finally quieted down.  And even then I still heard him sporadically for the next hour or so (I'm hoping he was just talking in his sleep at that point).  It drives me crazy because I just want to go in there and nurse him down, but that's the exact opposite of what I should do (which is to stay firm with his bedtime routine).

  • Avery has been going down at night just fine, but she's been fighting her nap lately. For the past 3 days I have resorted to putting her in her stroller and walking around the block. I feel like I have a newborn again! WTF?

  • They say there's usually a sleep regression before a big developmental leap, so I'm hoping all these babies are collaborating and will collectively solve cancer pretty soon.  Then we can all get a good night's rest.

Lulu does this in spurts.  The other day, she was up for 30 minutes chatting to herself.  And when I checked on her later that night (after she went to sleep), all of her stuffed animals were on the floor in protest.

This exactly. It seems to happen more often around known periods of sleep regression (9 mos, 12 mos) and when she is hardcore teething.
