My dermatologist just prescribed a topical cream to me. I told her I was pregnant, but looking at the info for the medicine, it's considered a class B drug for pregnancy. From what I've read online, that seems safe. However, pregnancy has made me crazy! Can someone talk me off the ledge and calm my nerves? TIA!
According to the FDA, a drug is considered class B if animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.
Re: Class B drugs?
Class B is fine to take during pregnancy.
