I didn't give DS anything at all, and he was fine - of course he screamed when he got the shot, but after I picked him back up he was okay and was fine the rest of the day.
Some kiddos react a lot more, I'd say wait to see if he needs it or not.
Bring the Tylenol to the pedi's office with you and wait until after he's weighed to know how much to give. DS was sleepy afterwards but as long as we kept up with the Tylenol every 4 hours as directed by the doc, he didn't seem to be too fussy or in pain. For his 4-month shots, I fed him a small bottle right away to help calm him down and so there was something in his tummy to buffer the Tylenol.
I gave DD tylenol right before her shots. I waited to ask the Dr. on the amt. to give. Then I BF her right after the shots. She slept for about 6 hours after. Make sure you put her in comfy clothes in case she does fall asleep.
