Pregnant after a Loss
Options

Sorry for the lack of formal intro and for my absence this weekend.

I'm sorry I didn't formally intro. My name is Grace, and I suffered a loss in 2011 that was classified both as a blighted ovum and a missed miscarriage. I was pregnant, saw a baby & heartbeat at approx 6.5 weeks (should have been measuring closer to 7), had some spotting at 10w, then big empty sac that continued to live & grow past 10 weeks. Finally at about 14 weeks, after an incomplete natural miscarriage, I ended up having a D&C to get the sac out. I had a few wonky cycles, then finally got "regular" in September, had some questionable timing the past couple of cycles, and then nailed our timing this cycle. I tested positive at 10DPO, again at 12DPO. Both were very very light.

To be totally honest, I'm not feeling great about this current state of affairs. I am experiencing some unusual cramping today, and I just took another test (although not with FMU) that appears lighter than the ones from this weekend. I have a feeling this is going to end as a CP. I know that's super-pessimistic (and I'm normally a very optimistic person to the point that it annoys people), but I can't ignore my intuition. If I do in fact start bleeding on Wednesday, I'll probably be kicking myself for having tested so early; I would never have known if I hadn't tested. Then again, that might be useful info to have in the future for the doctor, right?

Nevertheless, I'm trying to stay positive that my cycles appear to be normal, and that I have access to a good doctor who has said he will be proactive about any potential issues.

Happy to be here with you all today, even if only for today, and thank you for all the love and support you've given.

Well I hope your intuition is wrong!  I hope you are here for a long and uneventful 9 months.  Congratulations!  FWIW, I had very very light tests for about a week after my BFP (first test taken at 10DPO), had weird cramping and spotting and I am still here.  Best of luck!

Officially, congratulations and welcome! I'm sorry you're not feeling good about it, but today you are pregnant and love your baby.

I have a chair here and some super glue and I'm not letting you go for at least 8-9 months. Also as part of your ransom, I require you to continue CPW over here for the duration. Thank you very much.

I think that's a fair trade. I'm willing to be extra pervy in exchange for a chance to stay.

Congrats and welcome!  Pee sticks and their darkness are notoriously unreliable early on - please don't let that line freak you out (I had some lighter pee sticks, but here I am at 23 weeks).  Cramping and minor spotting can also be completely normal.

(And yes, even if it is a CP, that's good info for you and your doctor to have moving forward).

    Thank you!

Thank you so much lovely. Your positivity is infectious.

As far as not peeing on things, I think I'm done. It's freaking me out too much. The test I took today took quite a while to even show a line, and my contacts in my eyes were literally getting dry from me staring without blinking.  I still have the pee stick in the pocket of my blazer, and I like to pull it out to double check every now and again. I think I need someone to stage an intervention.

    Congrats!

    Now listen, and listen good...

We ALL have that "intuition".  For the most part, that intuition is fear.  That's it.  Fear of loving, fear of losing, fear of committing, fear of the rug being yanked right out from under our feet.

Not only was my pee stick at 12dpo as light as yours was, I also had one of those, "sh*t, this test is totally lighter than yesterday's" moments which I specifically remember texting my buddies about.  I was also convinced for 2 weeks that it had to be ectopic because I was having sharp pains on one side.  I then thought my betas were too low.  I spotted from weeks 5-6.  Then my ultrasound at 7 weeks measured 3-4 days behind.  Then I had a crazy bleeding episode at 13 weeks.  Then I had CRAPTACULAR sequential screen blood work combined with short femur length on ultrasound.  Then I had an amnio.  All the while, I wait and I wait for the rug to be pulled.

Guess who's still here....oh yeah, baby...sbphotos, that's who.  Still no clue why I bled so much or why baby's femurs are small.  All I know is that he's chromosomally (sp?) normal and his heart is beating away in there!

I tell you all of this to remind you to breath and to remember that our intuition sucks...really, it does.  You're just scared and that's ok.  That's why we're here...to help the scary parts seem not so bad.

So, that said, get comfy and stay awhile.  Think as positive as you can.  You won't jinx anything by loving baby and feeling excited.  Smile, you're pregnant today!!!  Woohoo!

Congratulations and welcome to the board!

I know how nerve wracking it can be....I am still hesitant to even say "I'm pregnant". And, when I scheduled my first u/s (this friday), I did it when I have a few days off around it....in case I need to schedule another D&C. PgAL is hard.

FX that you have a very healthy, happy and completely boring 9 months staying with us here on PgAL!

PGAL is hard. So. Freaking. Hard. Others have already addressed how fear clouds intuition, so I won't go there. I'll just tell you what I keep telling myself: today's worries won't change tomorrow's troubles, they'll only steal today's joy. Today--choose joy! officially congrats!!!

eh, the lighter test doesn't mean much to me---all dyes are different in each test and the only real way to know is to get betas done.
