So I think hubby and I have decided that we are just going to use disposables during the newborn phase until LO can fit in the OS cloth diapers. I know it has been mentioned that newborns legs are too skinny for most one size to fit properly, so can someone tell me about when the BG OS will fit? The diaper says fits 8-35 lbs so does that mean we will be using sposies for a short period of time such as a month, or will it be longer? Thanks!

They started fitting DD when she was about 11 or 12lbs, around 5 or 6 weeks.  She was born 8lbs 11oz and there was no way OS would fit then, her legs were pretty skinny.

Yeah, you'll only be using them shortly. I'd say 1-2 months, max. It all just depends on how soon your LO's legs fatten up.

We didn't buy our BGs until my LO was 11 weeks.  He was only 11 lbs with skinny thighs and they fit.  They're bulky on him, but they fit.

DD is around 8.5 lbs and our BG OS diapers don't quite fit her yet.  Her legs are too skinny and really, the diapers are just huge on her.  We used disposables for the first 2.5 weeks and have been using a mix of prefolds and covers along with some newborn size/xs AIOs.  We plan on doing this for the next several weeks until she gets a little bigger/fills out a little more.

 I did just get some Charlie Banana pocket diapers that have two sets of snaps on each side so you can adjust for their waist and their legs.  I've only used them a handful of times, but they seem to be working well so far. I have the size smalls but I know they make a OS diaper as well.

I just got some BG OS diapers this weekend and they do not fit her yet!  I would guess she is about 8 lbs now and she leaked like a river.  We are using fitteds and covers until those are too small.

DD was a tiny baby, but she had chunkier little thighs in the beginning. We started using our BG's when she was around 6 weeks old.

There is no way to know what age they will work. DD was a peanut and didn't fit into OS until she was 13 weeks. I've seen ranges from 3 weeks to 3 months. For us it was totally worth it to have nb diapers for her.

We started around 2.5 mo adjusted and 8 and 9 lbs or so.

They started to fit DD around 2 months, when she was about 9-10 lbs.

The majority of one-size diapers (minus the ones that run large like happy heiny and sweetpea) started to fit my son at 12 pounds, and stopped fitting around 27 pounds.

Between 10 and 12 lbs they started fitting well.

We switched to OS at 7 weeks.

Be prepared for the fact that OS look enormous on a little baby. They still work, though.

My DS was 8lbs, 6oz at birth.  BGs OS didn't start fitting him well until 12 weeks.  He is long and thin with skinny thighs.

You could also try other brands if you want them to fit sooner.  I really like Tots Bots Easy Fit AIO and Thirsties Duos size 1.  Both of those diapers are trimmer than BGs, so they fit sooner.
