She slept ALL day today and now, for the past 4.5 hours, she will not sleep more than ten minutes unless I am holding her. She sleeps beautifully in my arms, but when I put her down she wakes up within ten minutes.
Aw, you LO is only 4 days old! At this point, you kind of have to go by her schedule... she'll figure it out. Unfortunately there is not much you can do otherwise, she is just too little! But she'll figure it out eventually. Good luck!
"If every word I said, could make you laugh - I'd talk forever".
Our necessary ingredients for sleep: full belly, swaddled tight, rocked and shushed and paci in mouth. She is out in 5-10, sometimes wakes up when put down, but puts herself back to sleep. I also broke my rule about not having her sleep with me at your LO's age, but I don't recommend doing it. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do for some z's though. :-(

Yep. She's a very new thing, and just needs a little patience!
I know its rough, mama. Swaddle, white noise (DD loves the ocean waves from her sleep sheep) and rocking. We would always do the "arm test". Pick up her arm and if it flops back down she's out lol. We would set her in the sleeper.
Also, the vibrating clip that came with her sleeper is awesome. We just put it on the light vibrations when we set her down. Also a warm water bottle or light heating pad in the area you intend to set them (to minimize the temp difference between arms/bed). Remove it right before you put her down on the mattress.
See if that works. If it doesn't then you'll have to figure out what does. Do what you have to do (with safety in mind of course) to get a little bit of rest. In the beginning H and I took shifts holding her so the other could get some rest.
It's not true there is nothing you can do. Pick up a copy of The Happiest Baby on the Block and try employing some of the 5 Ss (swaddle, shush, sway, suck, side). Good luck.
Right now our 2 month old is sleeping in a bassinet next to my bed. Husband travels so it's just me with him now. Booo!
I noticed that part of what my baby likes about being held is the warmth. I made the room where he sleeps very warm, but not too warm (I have a room thermometer) and noticed he sleeps much better. We have the vents closed in the other rooms and an oil heater in the room.
Re: Suggestions- How can I get her to sleep?
