Gyro - the greek sandwich. 

DH pronounces the Gy as Gee, so Gee-ro.
 
I pronounce the Gy pronounced as a Yee, so Yeer - oh.

  • I used to make these in a restaurant. We pronounced it Yee-ro. Which I have heard about 50 different ways to pronounce it.

  • Forgot to add. Yee-ro Is correct. our boss would rip on us if we pronounced it any other way.. and he was greek..

    I think she means for jeye to rhyme with hi.

  • we've always pronounced it yee-ros, however my H's friend (from Greece) said it could be both ways; probably just because the jai-ros version is so widely said.
