Favorite 1st Bday Gifts

Hello December '10 Mommies!

I am a December '11 Mommy, and one of my good friend's sons is turning one. I know she is going to get an over-abundance of toys and clothes, and I'd like to get her something that she could really put to good use for the baby... but I am stumped!

What are some great gifts all of your adorable LOs got for their 1st BDays that you were truly grateful for?

Hi! Congrats on your new baby...so cute!

I really liked this thing called "My Busy World" by Alex Jr. toys. It's a big block with beads on that wire track thing on top, and little activities on the side.  THe other toy he really likes is this huge tube that he can crawl through. It's made out of tent like material. It's big, but it folds up and fits right on the side of my chair, so it's not that bad.

But if you are worried about too many toys, I discovered that I need more solid food stuff now.  So a cute plate and baby silverware would be nice, sippy cups (find out what kind she likes), plastic placemats, snack bowls...these are all things I started to use more recently as he got into real food more.

We got so many toys between E's birthday and Christmas.  I got so excited when people bought him clothes. I would caution you against buying any large toys.  We received several large toys, and while I truly appreciate everything that everyone got him, it is so hard to find places to put everything. 

I was going to suggest a small toy or puzzle and an outfit, but I like the idea from the PP better.  We are buying a lot of feeding stuff now.  It would be really cute to make a little basket with a little matching dish set and then throw in a sippy cup, self-feeding spoons/forks, or even throw in some snacks for LO. HTH!

Some of our favorite gifts were sippy cups with straws, adhesive place mats (for eating at restaurants), diapers, and a few gift cards to Target so we can get him clothes as he needs them, as well as toys, books, etc as he grows out of what he has.

I got my friend a zoo membership last weekend for her LO's birthday and they LOVED it.

Potsy is still sitting in L's closet, waiting to be rotated in. The FRIDGE FARM is amazing though. He plays with it all.the.time.

Our favorite gift was a pair of Nike Shox! I love cute baby tennis shoes, but hate forking over the money. Getting them for his birthday was great!
