Infertility caused by DH meds

Anyone have any experience with this? We are blown away right now because we have been trying and trying for our 2nd and no one mentioned that his meds for Gout stop sperm production!  I am in tears........

That's terrible!  I feel like everything out there has a pregnancy or BF warning...I am surprised his doctor didn't go over that.  How long will it take for production to ramp back up if he stops the meds?

long term or can he just discontinue the meds?

I am hoping big H...that by stopping that everything will go back to normal. Dr. cant see us until two weeks....but I am driving myself crazy trying to get info.  Seems all bad

it's horrible his docs never mentioned it to him- allipurinol (which i suspect is what he's on?) is known to cause IF problems in men- it's no secret- the doc should have told him.

hopefully they can do something to reverse it?

BTW- my company is working on a new drug for gout- the first new one in about 25 years... it will probably be called "Uloric"- if you google you might be able to find some studies going on- if he wants/needs to change meds. I do not know it's effect on fertility- but it's worth looking into.
