Jericho had a seizure. We are at the hospital.

We don't know yet. He has had a fever of 102-103 for 24 hrs but no other symptoms. Grandma was watching them for a couple hours, when we pulled in the drive she came out to tell us he was shaking then passed out. I took him from her and he was a total limp noodle. I never have held a baby that was so limp and unresponsive it was the scariest thing ever. 911 was *** busy so we jumped in the car and raced to the hospital. He was coming back around when we got here. They are doing blood and urine tests to see why he has the fever since he has no symptoms. He is also getting IV fluids. I am so scared.

Oh no! I am sorry! It can be so scary!! I have taken care of kiddos with febrile seizures, it is more common than one would think for the little ones.  Once he woke up was he back to his normal self?  Hope they get some answers from the blood and urine tests.  Stay strong!! Let us know how he does tonight.

I'm sorry. I know that seizures are a scary thing to watch your child go through. It sounds like he had a febrile seizure which DS1 has had quite a few of (he also has non febrile). The best thing that you can do is stay calm around him. The more relaxed you are, the calmer he will be. If you need someone to talk to, I'm around. Please update when you can.

I'm so sorry. My youngest brother had febrile seizures as a kid, it's awful and terrifying.  Most of the time he was just fine after.  Hopefully J gets better soon. T&P

Thank you all so much! We are home. The tests that are back have been nomal, still waiting on a couple others. The chest x-ray did show a little something that may or may not mean pneumonia could be coming. The seizure was a febrile, they still don't know why he has the fever but that is why he had the seizure. We have a follow up appt. tomorrow, for now we are on Tylenol and Advil around the clock to keep his temp. down. He is sleeping, but this Momma can not relax...I hope I NEVER have to go through that again. When he was so limp and unresponsive I thought he was dying...I kept it together pretty well, well I didn't start crying at least. I feel like I need to cry now though

I'm glad you guys are home now and the tests came back normal!  Even if it has to be in the shower, take a moment to cry - it can be an amazing cathartic body release for all the stress.

I hope the pneumonia doesn't develop and that there are no more seizures.  You've had more than enough excitement for a while.

How scary!! A friend of mine went through the same thing with her toddler. She was spiking a fever due to teething, and the doctor said when the temperature spikes really high really quickly, it can cause them to seizure? Anyway, I hope it is nothing serious. Please keep us posted.

Oh goodness. I'm glad it was *just* a febrile seizure- not that it makes it any less scary!!! Hope he's on the mend. Go have a good cry and let that stress out, mama! T&P are with you!
