Premarin anyone? (Repost from Nov '11)

I'm now 10 weeks PP and DH and I still haven't had sex. We've tried but I still feel too much discomfort internally. I called my OB about it and she called me in a prescription for Permarin. Which to my understanding is used to help with symptoms of vaginal dryness during menopause. My OB said that because I'm nursing that vaginal dryness is a common thing and this medication will help with the discomfort during sex. 

I swear I've been on more medications PP than I ever have my entire life. LAME!  

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Or had their doc prescribe this for medication?  If so, did it help?

Yup... after my first I had to use premarin due to atrophic changes down there (basically, it's menopausal symptoms).  Using just a little bit of the premarin 1x per day for about a week helped me heal up and solve the dryness and painful sex issue.  After having my 2nd, the midwife sent me home with premarin since it was likely I would have the same issue (thanks to nursing!).  I use it probably once or twice a week and have had no issues with painful sex.  Yeah!

Yup, I had to use the cream after dd as well. But I waited until like 4 months pp. this time, I will probably ask for a rx right at my 6 week appt instead of just hoping it will get better on its own. The cream made sex tolerable, but it didn't actually get good for me until dd started to drop nursing sessions.
