Christian's on #5 and the pedi labeled him chronic this past time. He was supposed to go for an ear check tomorrow but we didn't make it that long. ![]()
He was sent home from DC yesterday with a high fever, and pedi said today his ear infections are still there despite full courses and bactrim and then augmentin. He got a shot of rocephin this morning and will go Friday and Monday for follow up shots. Did both of your boys (or anyone else's) have this and did it work? I'm thinking someone did! Uggh, we hate this.
Re: Pitterpatter, chrisncassie, others - chronic ear infections
Oh no, so sorry he's still got ear infection! There is nothing worse (IMO) to think something is working have the Dr tell you its not.
We've never had the AB's that require follow up shots ...we did get an AB injection before we were sent to the ENT and it also didn't work. Make sure to push the yogurt - a lot - so that he doesn't get a rash. The injectables seem to be harder on the body than the liquids.
Good Luck!

LOVE the Florastor! H never needed the injections, but I hate when the AB's don't work.
When C had that weird week of ear infections and 105 fevers, they gave him Rocephin everyday for three days. It was rough. :-( The good news is that it worked great when even big doses of amoxicillin didn't.
I second the Florastor. We've pretty much narrowed the three weeks of horrendous poops to the Rocephin knocking his system out of whack. We mix a packet of Florastor into yogurt everyday and its been working like magic.
Also, there is a $3 coupon for it right now on coupons.com.
Good luck, I'm sorry the little guy isn't feeling well. :-(
