Honestly, nothings sticks out as being 'the thing I couldn't live without'. Jackson was/is really high maintenance and nothing could keep him entertained or happy for long except mommy & daddy.
I do love his high chair, we have a FP ez-clean and it is super easy to use and keep clean.
The thing I had to have but hardly used was his ergo carrier. I thought he'd be in it all the time, but we rarely used it.
1) no one thing sticks out. maybe my pump? medela freestyle
2) I was SO excited about our macleran stroller that DS could start using at 3 mo. I realized, though, that he was doing fine in the infant carseat + frame so we didn't use it that much for a while. Now we do use it a lot, but because it's more of an umbrella stroller it's not great in the snow. And it's a seriously huge pain in the ass to fold up and practically impossible to do one-handed. Way worse than the macleran stroller frame, which has been nothing short of awesome. But I think we could have done better on the stroller.
I can't think of one thing that really stands out for the entire year. We used the swing and the bouncy/vibrating chair thing A LOT in the first 4 months or so. We wouldn't have survived the newborn days without them. I guess since 4-5 months on we've used our Fisher Price Space Saver high chair everyday. I love that it fits on one of our dinning room chairs since we don't have a lot of extra space.
I think we've been pretty lucky and haven't had anything that's totally gone to waste. We've used everything for at least a few months. And luckily most of our baby gear was hand-me-downs.
we couldnt have made it through (with our sanity) without our maya ring sling. O screamed non-stop unless he was in the sling with his knees to his chest.
we could have done without the moby wrap. he just wasnt into it.
I couldn't live without our highchair. I didn't have it until DD was a few months old but it is one that can be used from birth.
I wanted a Bumbo but I never really used that thing. My BFF that had her baby the day before me uses though when they come over. She uses her's all the time
It's so weird how certain people use stuff more or less than others.
My video monitor. I don't know how people live without them!!! I wouldn't be able to stand not being able to click it on and see that his face is clear of blankets or whatever. I also adore our white noise sound machines that help buffer noise to keep the kids from waking one another.
I borrowed a bumbo this go round and I actually did like it. I also liked the RNP which would have been very helpful with my DD had it been "invented" yet. The list is smaller of things I *did* use!

Oh, thanks for reminding me! The white noise sound machine has been absolutely necessary!
I agree with a PP... the vibrating bouncy seat was great the first 4 or 5 months. If he fell asleep in the car, we'd leave him in his carrier, rest the foot of the carrier against the foot of the bouncy seat, and turn it on to let it keep vibrating him so he'd nap longer so we could eat or sleep.
Could have done without the mobywrap. Don't tell DH because I absolutely HAD to have it. I just couldn't ever get it tied to the right tightness to be comfortable.

Ooh! I third this. We use the Sleep Sheep every single night!
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
Loved: Our portable highchair, baby carrier (we got the Jeep brand because I didn't think we'd use it as much as we did, I'll be investing in a better one next time.)
Didn't need: Jumperoo or the PNP. We used both maybe a handful of times. We did use the PNP every day until she was 5 weeks old, but I think that with #2 we'll just start off in the crib because with the video monitor I was better able to watch we across the house than from across the room. And DD just wasn't into the Jumperoo, I thought that she would but she couldn't careless.
Hmmm.. The swing was a lifesaver the first six months, and the Bjorn has actually proven to be one of our favorite things. We continue to use it, even tho he is 25 pounds! We go for a walk in the Bjorn every afternoon right before his nap. Yes it kills my back, but it relaxes him before nap time.
The most worthless thing we bought was the crib bedding set. We only use the sheets, and the mobile for the first six months. We didn't use the crib bumpers, the cute comforter, or the decorative pillow. The dust ruffle was cute for the first six months, we had to lower the crib and then take it out. What a waste of money!
We could not and still could not have lived without any of our carriers. When she was born I had none, now have multiple. They get used all the time. She does not like strollers.
So I maybe could have lived without a stoller or the PNP. We never used it, we loved the RnP instead.
Couldn't of made it without: Birth to 6 months it was the bouncy seat, from 6 months to 9ish it was the jumperoo and from 9 months to now it is the superyard and babygates- the theme here? containment.
A waste was the PNP- it is nice when we travel but not super needed.
Totally love the miracle blanket, lightweight swaddlers (A & A), and still using (but not loving) the pump. Also, that saline nasal spray stuff, but that's not really *equipment.*
The PNP, on the other hand, is folded up in a corner in the bedroom where it's been since last January. The only time we use it is when friends with a baby come for dinner, or we go to their place for dinner and want to put LO to bed.

Must haves: The Bjorn (we went through a phase where she was in it for hours a day for months), the white noise machine, the video monitor
Didn't use (much): Moby, my Graco Silhouette swing (we ended up with a Fisher Price one that was way better AND cheaper), the mobile
We couldn't have done without our Moby Wrap & Beco Butterfly carriers. We use them A LOT.
We probably didn't need to buy the bouncer/jumperoo set up. He didn't really like it and couldn't use it anyway per his physical therapist.

The Baby Ktan was a savior months 0-7.
I could have done without all sleep aids--seahorse, sheep, giraffe, etc. Not a one helped my kid sleep.

The swing & her carrier.
(And, to add mucho cheese to the day, her father. Seriously the handiest thing evar!)

Couldn't have made it without: Moby wrap. I still use it when he gets really cranky and it will always calm him down if not put him to sleep.
Didn't need this time: jumperoo. DS1 loved it and would play in it any chance he got. DS2 screamed after being in it for a minute or two.

Our must haves were the swing and the jumperoo. I have 2 jumperroos and still use them daily to contain her!
Our should not have wasted the $ on were the bouncer and white noise machine.
Needed: swing, loveys, pacifiers, jumperoo/exersaucer...yeah we used a lot of stuff
Not really needed: Ergo sadly...I wish I would wear him more, but I just didn't and he didn't really "need" to be worn.

The johnny jumper was a huge waste, along with the white noise machine, jumperoo, swing, and most things. He was a very difficult baby.
The most useful thing was probably the swaddleme for the first 4.5 months. After that he could get out of it.
