Storing breastmilk in Playtex Drop In's

We BF and I've started to pump and give DS a bottle like ever 3 or so days. I only pump once or twice a day and I usually keep 4 oz in the fridge in storage bags then freeze whatever else I get from pumping that day. But I think that using BM storage bags to keep milk in the fridge is a waste of the bags and money.

Could I store the pumped milk in the bottle (Playtex Drop In's) with a lid on them and keep it in the fridge?

I would think it's like the same thing as keeping it in bags... but I'm just wondering.

TIA!

  • That seems like it would be fine.  I keep mine in the medela bottles that I pump into in the fridge and only use the bags when I freeze milk.  I use the screw on tops instead of a nipple, but I know the drop-ins lids are pretty tight, so I don't see why it would be any different.

  • I do thatsometimes, but usually I use adapter kit to pump directly into the drop-ins that comes with screw on lids for the drop ins.

  • I use the Playtex Drop In's as well and I keep the BM is the bottles with a lid. I only use the bags for freezing.
  • Not a problem.

You can also typically use the bag as your drop in when you feed. I fold the flaps over the top and screw the top on. (so the bag is in between if that makes sense) works great no extra plastic waste.

  • I've also used the playtex drop ins adaptor kit.  This way you have lids and can pump directly into the drop ins.  I got the kit as a shower gift, but I don't think it was too expensive.
