Jar-chicken pox RE: adult teeth

actually begin forming in utero so I'm not sure how having chicken pox at 2 yrs could affect that.  I know dh has already telling me our baby's teeth were forming.

I wikipedia'd it - permanent teeth begin to form in the twentieth week in utero.[1] If teeth do not start to develop at or near these times, they will not develop at all.

Re: Jar-chicken pox RE: adult teeth

  • Perhaps it stops the natural process of the adult teeth?  Like, they never get the cue to surface?

  • They are forming and present at birth but are not full adult size at the time of birth, they continue to grow. But diseases which come with high fevers can inhibit further growth, her fingernails and toenails fell off too.

same thing happened to my Mom when she has pneumonia as a child with her fingernails and toenails! EEP!

  • Yeah, I'm thinking if chicken pox can prevent adult teeth from erupting there may be something that happens when you get the pox.  Maybe those teeth never finish developing or somehow resorb into the bone?  I don't know!  Now I'm going to have to look it up or harass dh and see if he knows.  I've never heard that about chicken pox before though.  I hope I never have to learn that from experience!

Oh dear, I was hoping I could find a way around this, but it's not looking promising!  Good lord her fingernails and toenails fell off too?  Yes, I agree.  EEEP!
