The RE's office scheduled us to come in for an appointment before doing any testing. Has anyone else had this experience? I picture it being a waste of time meet-and-greet session.
I don't understand what they are going to tell me at that appointment except that I need CD 3 and 7 dpo blood work, schedule an HSG, and let DH know about his SA. I asked them when they scheduled the appointment why we would do that first before knowing any testing results and they said this is how they do it.
Well, this is how I do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hiUuL5uTKc
Re: Starting (RE) testing: pre-testing appointment?
I've never seen an RE but every doctor I have ever been to wanted to have an appointment before scheduling any tests. Might also be a liability or insurance issue.
ETA: Corrected typo.

~PAIF/SAIF Welcome~
Thank you GM! This is exactly what I needed to know. We have pages upon pages of history to fill out prior to the appointment.
Everything GM said.
Also, my insurance company requires that the first visit with the RE be a consult only. They will not cover b/w or exams until second visit.
We just had our first RE appt on Monday and it was about 2 hours long. A nurse came and spoke with us about our medical history, then the dr. came in and discussed things with us (we had a few labs from our primary to go off of), then the finance lady came in and went through everything, then the nurse again and how to set up appts. and sign consent forms.
I have been (naively) assuring DH that he doesn't have to do blood work. Whoops.
Dildo cam on visit 1, you'd think the schedule nurse would have let me know. Something to look forward to!
My RE requires blood from DH to rule out infection, STDs and other illnesses.
Love, luck, and prayers to my BFPB Dr. SnowflakeBride

Thank you Diva, Nemo and Kpowers! You all are so sweet! I feel good about getting more information next month.
Thank you everyone else for the additional information. I'll warn DH that he may have to get stabbed again (he had to do genetic testing a couple of months ago because I was positive for CF and inconclusive for Tay-Sachs and I (falsely) assured him that was the only bloodwork he'd have to do).
I want to add a mini-MIL vent from last night. MIL is the world's most kind, selfless person but last night she told me that relaxing is the key to getting pregnant. And that within 9 months of adopting, couples get pregnant on their own. She also recommended meditating, but she recommends that for everything under the sun. She was just trying to be helpful but it was all I could do not to chuckle and shake my head.
