Hey there!
Im 10 weeks Pregnant but I am going to be taking the long trip from South Korea to Arizona at 17 weeks and then back at 24 weeks. Its about a 15 hour flight. This will be my 8th time making this trip in the last 2 years (were stationed with the army overseas) but will be my first pregnant. Any good tips for flying while pregnant? I plan on sitting in an isle because I think I will need to get up and stretch often. And I plan to bring some food since I am allergic (Deathly) to Dairy and the only meal I can get is vegetarian... (last time it was HALF a pita wrap stuffed with shredded lettuce....thats it!!!)
And suggestions, advice, experiences will help! Thank you!
Re: Long flights
Stay hydrated-lots of water! I always buy my own big bottle of water after going thru security to supplement what the air hostesses will bring you.
Get up and move every so often to get your blood flowing. And change positions every so often when you are seated.
Consider buying compression socks (you can buy these at your local pharmacy or at the airport) to prevent blood clots. I don't know if these are overkill or not, but they gave me peace of mind when I flew long haul later in pregnancy.
I flew several times when I was pg with my son (including transatlantic) and have already flown from Europe to the US and back with this pregnancy, too. As long as you drink your water and take steps to prevent blood clots, you are good to go. Sitting in an aisle seat is a smart idea, too. Have a good trip!
