What is the idea behind off center portraits? Recently when I've taken DD to have her portraits done they always seem to take at least half of them off center. I'm assuming that there is some reason why but I've yet to figure it out. I usually ask them if they can zoom in a bit and make the pictue centered. It usually works out but sometimes it has to be zoomed too much and can't work. So maybe if I knew why they were doing this then I'd like the pics better and buy ones that are off center.

Well, considering my sig pic, I guess I'll answer!
It's the rule of thirds. Itis to add balance to a photo so that it is pleasing to the eye, and adds interest. If you put the focus on somewhere other than the center, it will draw your eye first to the focus and then around the photo to the other details.
