Any WI ladies in the Madison area (or Itsmevkb?) have an RE they'd recommend? We are starting to think about using our frosties and might want to do an single embryo FET this summer (did I just type that???).
Also, with S-FETs, when embryos are frozen in pairs and both survive the thaw, can you re-freeze the one you aren't transferring? We have 5, frozen in a set of 2 and a set of 3. I'd had to lose any that survive the thaw:( But, per the advice of our MFM, a multiples pg is not something we'd want to risk again.
I'm going to start doing FET research, but would appreciate any words of wisdom, like basic cost...natural vs. medicated...anything else to consider? Our dx is MFI.
Re: S-FET ?s (and Madison RE recs?)
Unexplained Infertility
After two Clomid cycles, three injectable IUI cycles, two IVFs, two miscarriages, and one lap surgery, IVF #2 has brought us our little boy!
TTC #2
After months of being postponed or cancelled, FET #1.3 (Natural FET) brought us twin girls!
I went to the Wisconsin Fertility Institute. The main thing I liked about the clinic is that it is open 7 days a week, and it doesn't take forever to get an appointment. Dr. Olive diagnosed and did the surgery for my ectopic. Thankfully, he was able to get the surgery scheduled for the same day because my tube had started to rupture by the time I got to surgery. Dr. Pritts assisted. Together they were able to save my tube. A year later I had another laparoscopy (Dr. Pritts) to remove the scar tissue that formed from all of the bleeding from the ectopic. Dr. Pritts also performed my hysteroscopy to remove a polyp and the D&C that I had.
They tried to create a peaceful, zen-like feel to the office when they designed it. Dr. Olive and Dr. Pritts do most of the ultrasounds, which is another thing I liked. It's nice seeing a doctor at almost every appointment. Occasionally, the NP Christie will do them if neither doctor is around. She's very nice, but I think I've only seen her twice for ultrasounds. If the nurses can't get blood, Christie is next in line. She's drawn my blood a couple of times. If she misses or isn't around, Dr. Pritts will do the draw.
Another thing that I like about WFI is that I can look up all of my results in the online patient portal. A friend and I both had our medical records lost when our RE in Waukesha switched offices. As far as I know, the records never were found, and we both had to spend a lot of money to get a lot of our initial blood tests redone.
I've never done a FET through WFI. I just checked out their website, and it doesn't list the price for a FET. They are very open about pricing, so I'm sure that they will send you a breakdown of the price if you ask.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for the information:) I was doing some research yesterday and came across their site. I'll give them a call this week and ask about FET costs.
I did my IVF in Gurnee, but I did my last two IUIs at Wisconsin Fertility in Madison/Middleton and Sully is the result. I saw mainly Dr. Pritts but Dr. Olive did the successful IUI. They are both nice and I liked that they let me give a lot of input into what type of treatments I wanted to do. I thought their prices were reasonable as well and since I was completely out of pocket they tried to find ways to save us money. I would go back if I wanted to do more treatments. We'll go back to Gurnee for our FET because that is where our lone embryo is.
I really hope you can re-freeze the embryos.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
