Trying to Get Pregnant

Progesterone Cream=Lost

So the other day I went to a local health store to buy some Vitex. The lady in the store said Vitex was converted to progesterone in the body. She told me I should buy Life-Flo Progesta-Care cream. I am so confused, I have been reading online that it is not recommended for pregnancy. But the lady said a lot of people have used this cream to conceive. Any suggestions?

Re: Progesterone Cream=Lost

  • Vitex is not converted to anything. It works with the hypothalamus & pituitary glands to decrease prolactin and increase progesterone. It is not hormonal but it's affect on the body is. If you do no know for fact (with blood tests at specific times in yor cycle) that you need your prolactin decreased and progesterone increased you can do more damage than good. Messing with your bodies natural hormone production when there is no reason to intervene is stupid.

Most progesterone creams also contain phytoestrogens, which you do not want. While most OTC creams do not contain enough actual progesterone to make a difference, again adding more of what you do not need isn't the smartest. Also progesterone is only used (to my knowledge) after ovulation. If you are using that bump ticker & basing your ovulation date off of average cycle length you really don't know when you ovulate.
