Don't flame me for this, but...

Can I get a chart stalk? I know, I know...bizarre request, but I got my BFP during an extremely long cycle (for me) and I gave up charting because I geared up to O and then didn't, and the holidays blah blah blah.

Anyway, how would you calculate EDD if this were your chart? I'm thinking 9/29...and 3ish weeks? Opinions?

I'm due 9/29, so 3w6d. I'm sure you could get a positive test now. Have you tested yet?

Yep, tested multiple days in a row. I'm just confused as to whether to guess conception date for EDD or what, since my cycle was stupid long.

  • Heck, they'll ignore your conception date anyhow and go straight for cycle day 1.

I know the exact date I ovulated and we only had sex once that entire two week period, so I'm 100% sure.  Yet, they tack on this extra time based on an average 28 day cycle which I don't even have.  I'm on a 25 day cycle.

I'm so an_l that this drives me insane.

That's what concerns me...if they do this, I they're going to give me an EDD that's about four weeks off.

Oh, I get it. I would go off your O date, even though your Dr's office may go off your last period. If you look at my chart, I O'd a little late too (not exactly sure of the day) so I'm going off of that, but my Dr's office as me down for my LMP. I don't have an appt until I'm almost 10 weeks, so we'll get a better idea of a due date then. Does that help?

Yes, thanks. It seems that the consensus is that they're going to go for LMP, regardless, so I guess it'll have to be settled by u/s.

  • I had a longish cycle as well, and the Dr. is going to do an ultrasound for dating since it was also my first cycle TTCAL.  They'll use that.  Which is funny, because I was charting BBT and know when I ovulated and know that today I am 5wks 4d.  I told him that, but he still wants to do the u/s.  *shrugs*  I guess they need some sort of "proof" with all the cray crays out there.  I wanted an early ultrasound for viability anyway so I'm not complaining!

Just give them a made up first day of AF based on your AF date.  So figure out what 14 days before you ovulated and give them that as your AF date.  That is the only thing you can do unless you have a dr that will look at your charts and take them seriously.  I've had to do this almost every time.

I O'd on CD 53 with my DS and after one time explaining to a nurse that my LMP was not the way to calculate my EDD I decided to just start saying my LMP was 14 days before my O date.  It worked well.

  • My midwife's office took my word for my O date as my EDD date. I told them my cycles were longer and that it would change my due date by over 3 weeks if they went by my LMP. I told them I was charting and was pretty confident w my O date. So, not every office is the same!
