I think most people do it around 7 or 8 months. My showers were done when people could come into town or when they were in town. I had mine when I was 7 months because it just worked out. Just dont have it too close to your due date!
I think it varies - many people will wait until after the know the gender - I would guess most women opt for it 6-8 months. I think many may be feeling better at 6 months and more willing to go out and enjoy a party than at 8 months. Plus at 6 months you have a little more time to buy the rest of the stuff you may need.
I had mine after LO arrived which I really liked doing.
Last time I was 31 weeks for my big family/friends shower. It was perfect. I was still very active and not super tired or HUGE. I really liked having the time to prep her room and organize all her things. This way we also got to see what else we needed to get and had plenty of time to do so. I had my work shower the week before I delivered and I was already exhausted (37 weeks).
I do agree with pp about timing. My EDD was 12/31 so anytime in December was out of the question just due to busy schedules, as well as the end of November because of Thanksgiving so we opted for Nov. 1. Which worked out great because I delivered December 18.
It is up to you. I had one at the end of my 6th month and one at the beginning of my 8th month. My preference the one at the end of the 6th month was better I was not as big as the house hosting the shower, I could still move and walk and be cute. The other one was hard for me I was soooooo big (I had gained a total of 80 lbs by the end of my pregnancy which was horrible) and it was just uncomfortable. Pick a time when you feel like you will be up to it and when your sister has time to plan it. It will be fun either way! Congrats!
