Breastfeeding was worth it, childbirth was not. She covered stuff that I had already read/researched on my own. I also think that a lot of her info is out of date as she was giving us advice, etc. from her own birth experience which was over 10 yrs ago. We watched a couple movies, stuff we had already seen. We walked out of the class and I felt just as unprepared as when we walked in. Some people though find their classes really helpful, I think it was just our particular class that was bad, not all childbirth classes.
We signed up and ended up not going. We ordered a birthing class DVD instead that we watch at home at our own pace and we LOVE it. It is broken down into 6 classes.
Even if I don't learn anything new about the process of birthing, I'm looking forward to my classes as having valuable information on HOSPITAL procedure.
Ours was good - it was a day long course. I didn't know much about the different medications used and medical pricedures so that was helpful. Dh learned that labor is not an in and out thing and we had a tour the same day which was great! It was worth it to us.

Would you rather risk going in knowing nothing and maybe not getting drugs (if you are planning to go that way) and just dealing with it then? Yes, go.
We've only had one (out of 5 total) so far but I liked the first one. It's really great for MH since he's clueless and I learned a few things I hadn't heard about before.
Re: S/O birthing class
I loved mine. I learned a lot and made some good friends in it.
Take CPR as well if you don't already know infant cpr.
